I am back at work today and since I don't have meetings straddling lunch, I decide to do some errands instead.
It is 27degrees Celsius outside and just beautiful when I emerge from the underground parkade into the very bright sunshine.
This is the time of year when I question why anybody would want to deal with deadlines, budgets, schedules and intransigent people when one could just work at ones own pace on an ULTIMA build, however, I was on my way to pick up some $upplie$ for the ULTIMA, which quickly brought me back to reality.
I stop at my local Parts Emporium and am told that my long awaited order for special Aeroquip fuel line fittings had arrived and I had better be sitting down when they give me a price. The fittings are a new item in the Aeroquip catalog line and will fit the recently added AN-12 equalizing weld bungs on the fuel tanks (in the very limited space between tanks and luggage containers) without fouling the fuel/fume seals which I was also intending to install in this tight space.
After adding two AN-12 straight hose ends and subtracting my so called "trade discount" I still end up paying $141 CDN for a small bag of four fittings.
I make a mental note to explore manufacturing these things - must be a massive mark-up when you think that one can buy some fancy electronics and other well made consumer goods for less money.
Next, I pick up some more aerosol cans of rubberized undercoating at my favorite store and while I am waiting to pay, one of the sales staff tell me that my inverter and TIG welder had arrived in the morning and was being held for me since I had a Rain check" for it.
The "Rain Check" had been issued in early April when they had a one time sale on these very scarce light weight inverter TIG welders and I had long since given up hope of ever getting the unit, let alone at the sale price of $440 CDN instead of the regular $600 CDN.
Must be my lucky day - if one can call spending all this money during ONE lunch hour "LUCKY".
I guess this why I have to do the work I do and I had better stop complaining and get back to the office in order to earn some more to help support my ULTIMA habit.
